Jambi - 5G networking is one step closer as Qualcomm recently announced its new QTM052 mmWave antenna module, as reported by The Verge.
The antenna module will enable smartphone users to access the internet at a much higher speed.
Although 5G networks are not created equal, the biggest jumps in speed will come from the mmWave network. The mmWave’s smartphone viability is not an easy force as the spectrum is easily blocked out and transmits at a shorter range, but Qualcomm claims the QTM052 antenna to be the solution.
The QTM052 antenna itself is tiny in size, roughly the size of a penny, and features four antennas that can transmit to the nearest 5G tower. It is designed small so device manufacturers can embed it into the bezel of a phone.
Additionally, the QTM052 antenna will be tested out shortly, as the first devices with the antenna are set to launch as early as the beginning of 2019.(***)
